Special Issue - “Experimental and Computational Issues in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering”

Lead Guest Editor: Dr. Jinyang Xu (Email: xujinyang@sjtu.edu.cn)

Introduction

The emergence of advanced and functional materials has an intrinsic link with various manufacturing processes and techniques. Many engineering materials require a precise manufacturing process to achieve dimensional and quality integrity. Material properties and structures both have a direct impact on the utilization of a manufacturing operation, which affects significantly the final product precision and quality. Particular issues are mainly associated with the experimental and computational techniques that are firmly involved in the life cycle of materials and their manufacturing operations.

The special issue aims to publish contributions on experimental and computational studies of various industrial engineering materials including but not limited to metals, alloys, steels, polymers, ceramics, composites and biomaterials in terms of their properties characterization and machining. Manuscripts treating all aspects of applications-based research relevant to materials science and manufacturing processes are welcome, along with the scientific papers on the new materials processing technology and on the computational modeling of manufacturing processes.
