Abstract
Imperfect interfaces and pores significantly influence the fracture mechanics of the multiphase structure. In the present work, a fast multiple boundary element method is developed for analyzing the interactions between cracks, pores, and imperfect interfaces. A novel variable-order asymptotic element is employed to capture the stress singularity, while an imperfect interface model connects the different material phases. Numerical results demonstrate that the interfacial strength considerably affects both the stress intensity factors and propagation paths of cracks. Furthermore, the presence of random defects is shown to induce crack initiation and propagation.
